Late Sunday Bolorunduro Awoniyi, Aro of Mopa, has been described as a great leader whose selfless sacrifice helped in stabilizing the nation’s democracy.
Capt Idris Wada stated this at the 5th year remembrance anniversary of late Chief Sunday Bolorunduro Awoniyi held at First Baptist Church,Ileteju Mopa, Mopamuro Local Government Area.
The Kogi State Governor said aside been a motivator, his principles of integrity, commitment to good governance will be greatly remembered.
Wada urged other leaders to emulate Awoniyi’s his life style of encouraging the young to attain their goals.
Speaking at the occasion, Arc Yomi Awoniyi, son of the late elder statesman and Deputy Governor, described his late father as a man who lived for Mopa Community, Okun Community, Kogi State and Nigeria. He said his life was a paradox, when viewed against his Christian background and to have served as ACF chairman.
In his homely, Rev David Ola Olaniyan called on Christians to emulate the life of late Chief Awoniyi,who despite his christian background had several Moslems as friends, a quality he pointed out endangers unity and religious tolerance .
The clergy man also called on parents to bequeath lasting legacies of good education and teachings to their children,urged Nigerian’s to learn to give thanks in all situations.
The week long 5th year anniversary service for late Awoniyi,witnessed prayers at the burial site, renovation of the school of the deaf and dumb and care for the aged,widows and orphans drew men and women across the country to Mopa who eulogized the legacies of the late Sunday Awoniyi.
