L-PRES to Rehabilitate Nine Livestock Markets in Kogi, Assures Bidders of Transparency

Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Kogi L-PRES) has commenced the bid closing and opening exercise for the rehabilitation of nine livestock markets across the state.

Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, the State Project Coordinator of L-PRES, said the planned rehabilitation will enhance livestock productivity and facilitate a conducive environment for stakeholders in the livestock value chain.

He assured the six participating bidders of a transparent and equitable evaluation process.

He emphasized that the selection of contractors would be based on merit to ensure the project’s success.

Dr. Bolarin highlighted that the renovated markets would facilitate livestock trade by providing secure and well-structured facilities for farmers, traders, and other stakeholders in the value chain.

He also commended Governor Usman Ododo for his steadfast support in transforming the agricultural sector in Kogi State, adding that the rehabilitation initiative was in line with the commitment of the Kogi state government to bolster the livestock business sector.

Dr. Bolarin emphasized that the rehabilitation efforts would play a pivotal role in enhancing livestock productivity, increasing the incomes of farmers, and driving economic development in the state.

During the event, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon Timothy Ojomah, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Abdulsalam Sagir Mohammed, welcomed the bidders and reiterated the government’s dedication to improving the livestock industry. He wished the participants a successful deliberation.

The bid opening exercise was witnessed by key officials such as Engr. Abas Ibrahim, Director of Electrical at the Ministry of Works; Mr. John Adejoh Agene, a Quantity Surveyor representing the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors; and Mr. S.S. Amoka, Head of Procurement at the Kogi State Bureau of Public Procurement, who represented the Director-General. Prof. Omeiza Usman of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management.
