Women engaged in Small Scale Businesses in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area have been advised to use the empowerment scheme given to them by wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Halima Wada, judiciously.
The wife of the Kogi State Governor, and initiator of the Kogi Women Empowerment Network (KOWEN), stated this at the 2013 disbursement of loan to market women under the aegis of Kabba Development Union.
The wife of the Governor, who was represented by Mrs. Tokunbo Awoniyi wife of the Deputy Governor, said KOWEN is a programme established to assist rural women to be self reliant.
Hajia Wada commended the hard work and industry of Kogi women, disclosed that her concern is about the improvement of the wellbeing of women in the State.
Hajia Wada, urged the women to use the loan judiciously so as to enable other women benefit from the revolving loan scheme, assured of continues support that will make the women economically empowered.
Earlier in his speech, President of Kabba Development Union, Mr. A. M. olorunfemi, commended the spirit behind the establishment of KOWEN adding that the loan being disbursed would be judiciously utilized.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, Emmanuel Funsho appealed to women in the State to take advantage of KOWEN programs to improve their economic wellbeing, assured of his Councils assistance to women in the area.
Highlights of the programme were the loan disbursement to beneficiaries and decoration of wife of the Kogi State Deputy Governor.
The wife of the Deputy Governor was also at the Palace of the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Micheal Olobayo were she called for continuous support for the present administration.
In his remarks, the Royal Father lauded the initiative to empower women in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, appealed for the sustenance of the programme.
