Commissioner representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Hon. Abdulkareem Jamiu, has called on the people of Ajaokuta to come out in large numbers and take part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Speaking in Lokoja, Hon. Jamiu stressed that voter registration is the first step towards active political participation, adding that the people of Ajaokuta must take advantage of the opportunity to register, update, or transfer their voter information ahead of future elections.

He explained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has simplified the process by allowing eligible voters to carry out certain services online, such as the replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and the transfer of voter information to new locations.

According to him, only fresh registrants who have never been captured in the electoral process will be required to undergo biometric capturing (fingerprints and facial data) at the INEC local government office.

Hon. Jamiu emphasized the importance of spreading the information across various platforms to reduce overcrowding at registration centres and ensure that more people benefit from the exercise.

The KOSIEC Commissioner reassured the people of Ajaokuta of his commitment to ensuring their voices are heard through effective participation in the democratic process.

He urged every eligible voter not to sit back but to take proactive steps in securing their Permanent Voter Cards.
