The Kogi State governorship aspirant on the platform of APC, Dr. Yaqeen Habeeb has reiterated his determination and commitment to rescue the state from its current abysmal state into one of great recognition in Nigeria just as he called on all Kogi indigenes to support the new era of change in the state by giving him their support in the coming primaries and elections.
Also, the Okun Development Association, ODA, of Kogi State has endorsed his candidacy for the state’s gubernatorial election.
In a letter signed by Sanya Asepo and J.O. Olorunnipa, ODA’s chairman and secretary respectively, it was made known that in a view to bring out the best man for the task ahead among the aspirants; a committee was set up and the group gave recommendations that Dr. Habeeb and Rt. Hon. Clarence Olafemi from Okun axis and Baba Ali Suleiman (Lokoja/Koto axis) emerged the best from the western axis of the coalition. “This decision came up as a result of their enviable track record in their personal achievements politically and among the grassroots.”
Also, during his appearance on a current affairs program of Channels TV, Sunrise, Dr. Habeeb lamented the poor state of infrastructure in the state which many well-meaning indigenes of the state want changed for better, the economic guru-turned politician solicited for the support of Kogi indigenes to lead the good people of the state to enviable economic and infrastructural development.
In his reaction to the argument of the opposition party that the state revenue from the federation account is not enough to provide needed basic amenities, Dr. Habeeb wondered why a serious government will be depending solely on federation account at this age to provide needed amenities for her citizens when there are many economic opportunities that can generate revenue for the state internally.
He made it known that his focus is to develop the state through industrialization by creating jobs to drastically reduce unemployment as well as improve infrastructure in the state. He also called on other politicians to be guided by the principles of service to their father land rather than self-interest in the build up to the elections so that the electorates can enjoy the much needed dividends of democracy.
