An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Kogi State, Mallam Abdul Adama has turned down a clarion call on him to contest the November 21st governorship election in the state.
Adama made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday.
It will be recalled that several interest groups like APC Frontiers and Kogi Pathfinders had on several occasions appealed to Adama to join the governorship race given his excellent antecedents as an administrator, community leader and politician. The group believed his detribalised approach to governance and principled administrative traits made him a best-fit for the exalted position.
Adama, while appreciating the groups for counting him worthy for position, said he is presently focused on working with his boss, the Senate President, to suceed in his new office.
He enjoined the groups to join other well meaning kogi indigenes to ensure APC succeed in the forthcoming election. He however cautioned that the all-important Kogi governorship race should not be reduced to child talks.
Adama pledged his support and loyalty to the party, APC, and Kogi State. He assured his supporters that he will continue to contribute to the growth and development of APC.
