It is no longer new to us that whenever good people come up to assuage the pains of the masses, there is always an antagonism from some few cabal who are bent on keeping the people under perpetual subjugation by so doing, creating enabling environment for their children to take over from them, in order to ensure that the statuesque exploitation is maintained. in trying to actualize their aims, they often resort to; propaganda fabricated lies, frame up and blackmail against any potential threat to their domination. But god in his infinite mercies has a way of rescuing the people.

Furthermore, the last presidential election in Nigeria was a significant milestone and lesson to all with regard to the forth coming gubernatorial election in my dear state (Kogi).

You may wish to recall that prior to the last presidential elections, so many evil tactics and strategies were adopted by the then ruling party and her supporters. We are all witnesses to the various clips sponsored and played by media stations most especially on African Independent Television (AIT) where PMB was maligned in every angle one can think of, but that did not deter people from making the right choice of voting him, today he is the president of the country.

In view of the above, it is pertinent for me to draw inference from the ways and manner the last presidential election was won and lost in my analysis.

We are all aware that the flag-bearer of the All Progressive Congress in the forth coming governorship election in kogi state, His Excellency Alhaji Prince Abubakar Audu just like PMB had never decamped to PDP in his quest to govern and better the lots of his people, just like PMB also, he is presently been accused by the few enemies of the state of being too old to govern even when he is below 80. In fact just like what they did to PMB, they have adopted all forms of evil plans and tactics in order to stop the man whom the well meaning and the majority of kogites have seeing as the face of modern development in kogi state. just like PMB who was the former head of state and contested for 4th consecutive times, PAA was a former governor who is also contesting for the 4th times now.

One question that kept on bothering me is that PDP led government accused PAA of stealing 11 billion naira and could not convict him for 12 years, but were able to convict their members who stole public funds? your answer is as good as mine. Even that, people prefer to vote who will still and provide development.

The man prince Abubakar Audu after leaving office in 2003, his achievements still remained the best, yet to beaten by the successful government in the state. It is quite clear and understanding, that PAA got very insignificant amount of money as an allocations from the Federal Government compare to any other governor after 2003, in fact the total monies received by the PDP led government in 2008 alone was more than the entire money PAA got in four years (source: compendium of faac, volume 1 &2) yet, most of the infrastructures he erected cannot be maintained and as such in dilapidated forms, for example the Confluence Beach Hotel, Stella Obasanjo Library, Government Eye Hospital Ogbonicha and many more to be mentioned. Today almost every family in the state can easily send their children to kogi state university or kogi poly which are all parts of the achievements of the man who really care for his people.

This article cannot be completed without bringing to bear the fact that before Audu came into office in 1999, the outgoing military administrator then Aniebo left seven (7) months arrears which on his assumption of office in 1999 payed all the arrears.

Finally, the time to re-write the history of our beloved state for good is now. Martin Luther King says “we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. this is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.” It is on this note i advice that we take our destiny into our hands by voting out the party that have provided means for political thuggery to strive, people are been maimed and killed on the regular basis now in the state.

In view of the few points presented so far, we need Prince Audu to take us out of this mismanagement and maladministration of the PDP led government in the state.

– Comrade Wada Yahaya
