In the wake of the ongoing allegations and counterclaims surrounding the tenure and removal of Usman Ogohi as the Kogi State NYCN Chairman, the Kogi Youth Integrity Forum (KYIF) has called on Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, to provide clarity on his alleged role in Ogohi’s emergence as chairman.

Engr. Bashir Gegu, who recently criticized the ousted NYCN chairman for financial misconduct and incompetence, previously claimed to have played a part in Ogohi’s entry into the NYCN leadership structure. This assertion has raised serious concerns among Kogi youths, particularly given the NYCN’s status as a non-partisan organization meant to represent the interests of all youth, free from political interference.

The KYIF, through its spokesperson Emmanuel Alhasan, expressed disappointment at the Commissioner’s comments, which suggest undue political influence in the selection of NYCN leaders.
