- Drum support for APC.
Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Hon Hajiya Fatima Kabir Buba has called on women in the state to join the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to enjoy more dividend of democracy in Nigeria.
Hajiya Buba made the call on Saturday, shortly after revalidating her membership of APC at her Unit 004, Eggan ward, in Lokoja local government of area of the state.
She noted that the ruling APC has brought government down to the grassroot, stressing that women has enjoyed more participatory democracy compared to what was obtainable before now.
Hajia Buba stressed further that APC is a gender sensitive party and are ready to accommodate more women to occupy juicy positions in the country.
“Women in Nigeria, including Kogi State, have continued to feel the dividend of democracy under the ruling APC. Are we talking about the empowerment program from both the federal and state level.
“Let us look at the statistic of women in governance in Nigeria and outside the country. You will agree with me that women have been recognized more in this government compared to what was obtainable in the past.
The recent laudable achievement of the APC government under President Muhammadu Buhari and our amiable Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is the endorsement of our own Mrs Okonja Iweala by the United State of America to lead the WTO. This was made visible because the APC has set a template to the outside world that women in Nigeria, if given opportunities will explore and contribute meaningfully to the development of any establishment.
“Here in Kogi, we set record that has not been broken by any state across the federation including the federal capital territory. The 21 local government vice chairmen are women. The Secretary to the State Government and the Head of Service are women. Many women are occupying juicy positions which further confirms my earlier position that APC remains a party women in Kogi State and Nigeria in general can find solace in.
“APC is determined to liberate Nigeria from all the wrongs of the past. This is why I am enjoining Nigerians and women in particular to join the winning party as another general election is drawing closer to determine the fate of our great country Nigeria,” she said.
The commissioner also maintained that women in Kogi State are solidly behind the Presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello who she emphasized has touched the lives of Kogites in terms of infrastructural, capital and human development.
In related development, member representing the Bassa constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Rai Daniya has called on constituents to join the All Progressive Congress massively.
He made the statement at Ozugbe his home town while revalidating his membership of the APC.
He commended the leadership of the party for providing this opportunity for prospective and existing members to register and become members of the APC.
Hon Daniya again called on the state government to remember the people of Bassa in rehabilitating the Shintaku – Odenyi- Oguma road and completing the Sheria- Oguma bridge.
He went further to call on all citizens of Bassa LGA to continue to support the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello in his quest to bring development to all sectors of the state.
He also thanked the Executive Chairman of Bassa LGA, Hon Muktar Shaibu for ensuring a gradual and steady return of peace and development to Bassa LGA and prayed for Gods Guidance and absolute protection.
