Senator representing Kogi West, Otunba Dino Melaye was bared from entering Mopa in Mopamuro local government area of Kogi State today by angry youths.
Melaye, on his way to Mopa to attend the burial service of late Mrs Janet Ibidun Abereoran, mother of his personal assistant, Segun Abereoran (Sege Dudu), when the mob barricade the road and forced the Senator and his convoy to turn back.
A source told this reporter that the atmosphere in Mopa was tense as some of the youths had positioned themselves around the church venue of the burial service. The source said it was better that the Senator turned back as the youth had vowed to retaliate if Dino comes into the service and make his usual provocative pronouncements.
The burial service paraded the creme de la creme of the society. Prominent politicians from Okunland like ex-Deputy Governor Yomi Awoniyi, Hon, Tolorunjuwon Faniyi were all present while Governor Aregbesola of Osun state was represented by Hon. Bola Ilori.
Senator Melaye’s media assistant, Gideon Ayodele did not pick his call when this reporter tried to get his own side of the event.
