The senatorial candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) for Kogi West, Hon. Muhammed Ibukun Abubakar (Bukky) has expressed concerns about the political fortunes of Lokoja-Koton Karfe federal constituency in the senatorial district.
Speaking during a courtesy visits to the Ohimege Igu of Koton Karfe, Bukky said Lokoja/Koton-Karfe federal constituency must work an one entity to take back the seat of Senate from the other constituencies after relinquishing same honourably sixteen ago.
He said there is no justifiable reason to continue to take the back seat on Kogi West senate.
Bukky assured the monarch that he will not disappoint the people of Kogi West senatorial district, if elected.
“Speaking before royal majesties like you makes me very humble. Your throne is not an ordinary one, so only unserious minded people will come and make promises here without redeeming them. I respect this throne and know that if I fail on any promise I made here what is under the stool will chase and hunt me down.
“Your royal majesty, those of us who have friends who are House of Reps members and Senators can attest to the fact that the position of a senator is a big one. But sadly, those who normally go there to represent us would come back to tell us that there is nothing there. Agaaba’idu, that is not true!
“Your royal majesty, in supporting and blessing people like us to represent our people at the Senate, I can assure you by the grace of Almighty Allah that the gain that is in that office would be bought back home successfully without flimsy excuses as we have had overtime.
“Your royal majesty, when you look at all of us vying for this seat, I am probably the youngest. However, I am the most passionate about seeing that our teeming unemployed youths are turned into useful people with the opportunity to become independent and ensure our women are duly empowered.
“I seek your support. I seek your prayers and any other thing you think you can offer that would help us to attain the height ahead of us,” he said.
Responding, HRM the Ohimege of Igu Kingdom, described Bukky as a young man with high level of intelligence.
The monarch commended Bukky for his issue-based campaign, urging him to continue with his struggle peacefully.
Earlier, the State party Chairman, Hon. Angulu Ukuma thanked Ohimege and said his ready-to-serve son, Bukky, was brought to receive his royal support and blessings in order to attain the senate seat and take the constituency to the promised land.
Angulu said the visit to the Ohimege was mainly to seek his royal blessings but the large turnout of Igu youths and women who came to welcome Bukky shows they believe can deliver their message adequately at Senate with their support.
