When I was growing up I had no opportunity of attending a private school from primary to the University. Good enough all the public schools I attended were conducive, equipped and up to standards in all ramifications.
After many years of leaving school, I recently had reason to conduct an investigative visit into the state of the schools and I’m yet to recover from the rot, decadence and unfriendly learning environment I met(No attempt to play politics is intended and no government or person is targeted). I took a decision from then that when I get to the Senate by the grace of God, I will invest into public schools to make them attractive, including sustainable Corporative and entrepreneurial scheme for the teachers.
This is important because quality of education and moral development have been debased and abandoned in our society. A clear answer to the reason for the current youth unemployability, moral decadence and insecurity.
While we await the opportunity through the support of everyone, I have considered palliative measures within my humble capacity as the best immediate personal intervention.
Our movement therefore began the distribution of exercise books in all public schools in Kogi West. Today our team visited St Mary Primary School, St Joseph Primary school, St Andrews Primary School 2 and Methodist Primary School all in Kabba Town of Kabba-Bunu where over five hundred pupils were provided with the writing material.
I will be formally doing the Presentation to the pupils in the primary school I attended, St Joseph LEA Primary School, Itedo-Isanlu, Yagba East. I have contacted my headmaster who taught me about three decades ago, Pa Olorunsola, he will join me in this noble assignment to inspire, educate and motivate the pupils who are surely the leaders of the generation-next.
Our education development agenda starts now no matter what happens tomorrow.
