Today, I looked at the eyeball of Yagba and behold I saw real redness. Redness of eyeballs brought about by long years of sufferings and afflictions. Self imposed sufferings brought about by disuity and individualism; I even saw drops of tears from the eyes of Yagba because of her “sellouts” who mortgage its future for self interest.
They met and shared out Yagba as booty. It was reminiscent of the balkanisation of Africa by Berlin Conference of 1884. They did not care a hoot what happened to Yagba, they tore its soul, bruise its body.
What they failed to realize was that Yagba had moved far away from where it could be cowed, owned, possessed, and sold out at will for peanuts. If not, how could we sell out Yagba because of personal agenda? How could we tradeout our rights so easily and so cheaply?
Sometimes, I thought I was dreaming. Someone should tell me how a two term member of the NASS could now be declared unfit for another election? In spite the fact that nothing has changed in his credentials, records and profile. He is of a sound mind; no crime committed newly.
The same thing goes for a Yagbaman, who was an Acting Governor and a former Speaker, was also declared unqualified, among others declared as unfit to contest the Senate were past Chairmen of councils, members of State Assemblies, etc.
This is a joke taken too far. This is a handshake that passes the elbow. Sometimes, we take things to the ridiculous and even to the ludicrous levels. This is one of such.
PDP is dancing naked in the market square. The labor of its heroes and party faithfuls are now in vain. What a shame!
The sounds from APC are not pleasant either. Both two most prominent and major parties in Yagba have no consideration for Yagbamen for Senate. Too bad!
But I bet you, those behind this ploy are really playing God. They want to test the resolve, the temperature and temperament of a Yagbaman. They want to know the materials, the textures and the cultures of a typical Yagbaman. They are really gauging our malleability and elasticity. And so I ask, if these Yagba hopefuls are not qualified to be voted for, who else is qualified?
In this brouhaha, I saw a more united Yagba. Unity brought about by hardships and naked reality of “unite or perish”. Good for Yagba. Yes, affliction can make a people come together. The true test of Yagba unity and resilience is now.
Will Yagba take the insult of “no senate” from the two major parties? Only time shall tell!
But it appears to me that Yagba will make a statement this time around. This is the time to set aside our individual differences and be of one voice and one accord, or else be drowned for ever, God forbid!
This is the true test of Yagba’s survival as a nation. If we stand now, then we are free. If not, we may be in perpetual slavery, God forbid! Yagba must stand and say “we are no slaves to any person or group of persons or to any entity or authority”. We must speak the truth to APC and PDP and their accomplices.
Yagba is approaching a revolution. Those who dare Yagba now do so at their own peril. Yagba is not only backing, it might be forced to bite. A dog plays with its younger ones with its teeth, but It could also bite with that same teeth.
Let no Yagba man be found among those who want to compromise, appropriate and sell out yagba interest for Senate. Yagba will not settle for less. Yagba will crush and blacklist any of its own who stands on its way to the Senate, 2019. Yagba for Senate is real. It is also now.
