Kogi West is comprised of 3 Federal Constituencies viz Lokoja/Koto,Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu and Yagba.

Each of these has gotten two shots at the Senate.

Senator Justus Olu and Sen Sunday Awoniyi (Yagba), Senator Ado Shaibu and Senator Tunde Ogbeha (Lokoja/Koto), Senator Joe Obasaju and Senator Smart Adeyemi (Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu).

As it is now, it could be anybody’s chance.

Also, d Senatorial slot has never been zoned previously, from 1999 to 2011, it has always been contested by aspirants from all the 3 constituencies, both at d Party Primaries and main elections, d details are available.

Finally, an Ijumu man was to be the Deputy Governorship candidate to Governor Idris Ichala Wada of Kogi State, that was the conclusion before the governorship primaries as arranged by Ibrahim Idris and Idris Ichala Wada himself, this was truncated after the primaries by a Yagba agitation that the positions of Senate and Deputy Governor are the two topmost positions in the Senatorial District and therefore can not be zoned together in the same Federal Constituency.

This argument looked reasonable that time, to the benefit of Yagba and detriment of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu.

Now the Deputy Governor is from Yagba and some people are still asking for d Senate slot, how can that be?

Whatever reasons that could not allow the two positions to stay together in 2011 in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency can also not allow them to stay together in Yagba Federal Constituency, as what is good for d goose is equally good for d gander.

Conclusively, there is no moral justifications for anyone from Yagba axis to be asking for the Senatorial slot come 2015 knowing well that the Kogi State Deputy Governor is from Yagba, and will still be in office till 2016.

The 2015 senatorial contest shall be fought on the platform of ability, not on sentiments that cannot be justified under any sane atmosphere.
