Kogi: Welder Stabs Peace Maker to Death Over Row With Call Girl

An innocuous attempt by a furniture maker, Lukman Kabiru, to resolve a rift between his neighbour, Murtala Dare, and a call girl turned bloody on Sunday night as he was stabbed severally in the neck and died on the spot.

The incident happened around 11 pm at a makeshift shop being operated by Murtala Dare along popular Lord Lugard street in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

The late Lukman Kabiru, whose furniture shop is directly opposite Murtala Dare’s rendezvous, was said to have been stabbed to death by Dare for having the gut to mediate between him and the girl.

An eye witness account stated that at about 11:00 pm, Dare reportedly wanted to fight a call girl for taking a customer behind a building for ‘quickie’.

Dare, whose shop is adjacent to a popular Jackis restaurant noted for attracting commercial sex workers, was said to have interrupted the sex romp and threatened to beat the call girl for not paying for rent.

The intervention by Lukeman to stop Dare from being violent angered Dare who reportedly stabbed Lukeman Kabiru.

The eye witness disclosed that the assailant often collect stipends from randy men, who may not have the resources to rent a hotel room but desirous of using the makeship at the back of his shop.

He added that the inability of the call girl, who sometimes bribed him with sex to enable her have unhindered access to the open brothel, to pay turned into heated altercation which drew the attention of Kabiru who was returning from hanging out before the incident happened.

Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Police Command said that Dare was arrested at his hideout at the back of Total Filling Station along IBB way in Lokoja.

The Police public relations officer, DSP William Aya noted that investigation into the matter is on while Dare is in custody and will be charged to court after diligent investigation.
