The State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) in Kogi State will conduct election into the 21 local government councils in the state on December 8,this year.
The chairman of the commision in the state, Barr. Abraham Olaniran disclosed this in Lokoja at a media briefing.
He noted that the state electoral commission could not conduct election into the councils before now due to the Supreme Court judgement, which changed the government in January this year.
The SIEC chairman further explained that they had to allow the present administration in the state time to settle down, saying with stability now in place, election could hold at the grassroots level.
He stressed the need for the political parties and their loyalists to adhere strictly with the guidelines, with a view to holding successful exercise.
Olaniran equally pledged a level playing ground for all the parties, saying the commission was poised to conduct transparent and credible election that would be accepted to all.
