Kogi State government has said that it would enforcement the use of sanitary facilities in public places in the state.

It said it would also ensure the installation of hand washing facilities  to deny COVID-19 from getting access to the state.

The government stated this at the weekend in a COVID-19 update signed by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Saka Haruna Audu.

The government had last weekend lifted the two weeks ban on public and religion gathering in the state.

“The state government will enforce the installation of hand washing facilities in public places such as shopping complex, business centers, offices, etc.”

Audu in the update said all worship centers were expected to mandatorily have hand washing facilities installed for their worshipers which must be used every time before their services.

“Places of worship should also be frequently disinfected, and there should be adequate spacing between worshipers at all times.”

He admonished the citizens of the state to go about their business while observing a high sense of precaution against the virus as rolled out already.

“We have designated areas where commuters from outside the state are allowed to stop, and testing will be carried out. They are no longer permitted to stop wherever they wish.”

Reacting to the rumour of alleged case of COVID-19 in Ankpa Local Government Area of the state, the health commissioner said it was a false alarm.

“The pandemonium about a suspected case in Ankpa Local Government turned out to be false. We understand the fear of the people  and we welcome such level of alertness and prompt reporting of suspected cases and it goes to show that our sensitisation efforts has yielded the desired result.
