Kogi to Construct Water, Power Projects for Rural Areas

The Kogi State Government has approved contract for the establishment of rural water and power projects for N95 million

The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Yagaji Bologi said the idea was to take water and electricity to rural communities, adding that they are basic needs the people.

Bologi said the administration has resolved to always provide succour for rural areas, adding that the idea of taking development there was to avail them the same benefits as those in the urban areas.

He stressed that the tasks will be undertaken by the Green Job Nigeria Ltd, which is expected to provide 70 per cent of the funding, while the local government councils will provide 20 per cent and the state government 10 per cent.

The government also approved the construction of 500 motorised boreholes for N2billion, noting that this is a massive programme.

The Commissioner disclosed that it will be in 200 sedimentary, 100 shallow and 200 hand pump bore holes.
