Kogi State Government has approved the construction of a new Army Forward Operational Base in Dekina.
This was made known by the Director-General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo, on Wednesday, after the state executive council meeting.
He said the measure was part of the efforts of government to build on the successes already achieved in keeping the state safe and secure.
The new Army base is in addition to the one built by the state government recently in Okene.
Governor Bello, he disclosed, inherited a Kogi, that was dreaded as one of the unsafe states in the country, with incessant cases of kidnapping and armed robbery, but, however, turned around the situation few months into his administration following proactive steps to free the state from the pangs of insecurity.
According to him, the state government has also approved the establishment of a state owned television as well as the procurement of modern broadcasting equipment for the state Radio.
The move, he revealed was part of the resolve of government to enhance the capacity of the state media outfits to effectively serve the people.
This is also in addition to the approval for the construction of two new Mini Bus terminals in Ganaja Village and Zango-Daji area of Lokoja, the state capital to enhance intra city mass transportation services in the metropolis..
Governor Bello has restated the resolve of his administration to pursue to a successful end, the ongoing reform of the civil service, noting that he would not be deterred, even in the face of obvious plans to frustrate the vision.
The Governor’s reaction is coming on the heels of the recent acts of vandalism on one of the newly installed, electronic attendance register at the state secretariat in Lokoja, the state capital.
