The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), Kogi State University (KSU) chapter yesterday declared an indefinite strike.
The strike follows an earlier industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the university, thereby leading to a halt on all academic and non- academic activities in the institution.
Chairman SSANU, Kogi State University (KSU) chapter, Comrade Moses Balogun told our correspondent on phone that, poor welfare of lecturers and gross mismanagement had reduced the quality of learning in the institution, blaming the university governing council and the management for the unfortunate fall in quality of the institution.
He said this agitation has been on ground since 2009. And it is the result of the agreement of 2009 signed between unions and the government.
He said, “As we are talking to you, apart from the salary aspect, and that of the peculiar allowance that has been implemented in the university, all the allowances that are supposed to be paid, were paid partially to some people management felt are loyal to them. All other issues relating to the agreement has not been met”
He said the union has lost confidence in the vice chancellor of the university and called for his removal.
Nice one from this good guy. Hailing your courage
