A governorship aspirant and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alh. Yakubu Yunusa Chado has described governance in Kogi state as one that is in a reverse gear.
Chado, in an interview with newsmen in Lokoja, pointed out that while the debt profile of the state has risen beyond imagination, nothing can be seen as development in the last two years that is commensurate to resources accrued to the state.
He disclosed that the Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration has failed and has inflicted so much hardship on the people.
The governorship aspirant expressed optimism that he will occupy Lugard House, the seat of government in 2020. He stated that he is energetic, intellectually mobile and exposed with the right and modern skills to reposition Kogi state.
He lamented the backward movement the state has witnessed in the last two years of the APC led administration and appealed to the people to be fervent in prayers for Allah to heal the state of the sins of the APC administration.
“Never has our state recorded so much debt, pain, deaths and maladministration like we’re presently witnessing. This is not the Kogi State of our dreams. People are asking where we got it wrong and why the hardship.
“But my appeal to them is to see the situation as one that calls for closing of ranks, irrespective of tribe and tongue, political parties and religion,” he said.
He disclosed that 2019 should be a time for the liberation of the state, noting that the state can not continue like this for another four years.
He promised to make employment, improvement on infrastructures, poverty eradication, qualitative health care and education, cardinal program of his administration if elected.
The Lokoja-born governorship aspirant said the overwhelming support he is presently enjoying attest to the fact that his aspiration is ordained by God.
