The Kogi state Governor has barred his First Lady Hajia Zainab Idris from stepping out of the Lugard House, their official residence. This is a fallout of the First Lady’s insistence that the Governor allow the wish of the people to prevail by allowing Jibrin Isah Echocho fly the PDP ticket instead of being involved in the kind of crises or furore over the imposition of his inlaw and business partner.

A source close to the First family quoted Hajia Zainab Idris as saying that, she was interested in the crises because she is the mother of the state and would not allow some desperate individuals who do not mean well for the state to drag the Governor into any mess. “God has been faithful to us. We never knew we would be in power for this number of years. Within the same period, the Almighty Allah saved the lives of three of our children. If I allow my husband to do all this to Jibrin Isah without a just cause, it means we are ungrateful to God. In fact, Clarence Olafemi it was who stood by us as Acting Governor and made sure we were returned to office, is this how to say thank you?”

Hajia Zainab Idris has been shuttling between Lokoja and Abuja until the Governor’s order barring her from stepping out of her official residence, ostensibly to lobby Mr President through the Nations First Lady, the Senate President, Senator Tunde Ogbeha and many other influential Nigerians who could make her husband see reason and allow the Jibrin Isah/Clarence Olafemi mandate to stand.

A well informed commentator responded saying, “May God save Kogi. Even if he barred her from going out, the damage has been done already. Infact, security has been beefed up around Govt House. Some documents that are more damning have been declared missing. He suspects his wife because some unprintable documents are going round the power circle in Abuja.”
