A Catholic clergy, who is an employee of Kogi State government, and a middle aged woman whose names were erroneously missing in the recently released staff verification report were assaulted by a female member of the screening committee before handing the duo over to the police.
The female member of the committee, identified as Hajia Maryam Ladi Ibrahim (popularly called iron lady), is a former Auditor General in Kogi state. She is has been allegedly treated civil servants with reproach and disdain in the course of the screening and re-screening exercises.
The two employees of the state government, which include the clergy man, were allegedly threatened to be shot by armed policemen attached to the committee members because they have the effrontery to challenge the “iron lady” on simple administrative issues she was obviously ignorant of.
Many of the workers who had been victims of embarrassment, assault and infringement on their fundamental human rights have offered to stay away from the ignoble committee or resign honourably after meritorious service to the state.
Workers in this category have not accessed their monthly salaries since the inception of this administration and were daily subjected to endless screening.
