The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Mathew Kolawole has charged Christians in Nigeria to continue to pray for people in positions of authority at all levels.
Rt. Honourable Kolawole gave the charge at a thanksgiving service organised by Pastor Dele Ajigi on Sunday 13th August 2017 held at the Church of God of Prophecy, Kabba to thank God for saving him (Ajigi) from being electrocuted sometime in 2015 while he was working at the residence of late Olorunfemi.
Prince Kolawole said he has promised to put in his best in whichever position he finds himself and that he is an advocate of the proposition that the reward of hard work is more work.

“I will continue to give thanks to the Almighty God because without Him, I am nobody, an ordinary mortal’’, he added.
The amiable Speaker used the occasion to commend the electorates in his constituency for their overwhelming support for him before and during the election that brought him to the House of Assembly, urging them to continue to cooperate with and support the present administration under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello both morally and spiritually in order for him to continue to better the lots of Kogites.
According to the Speaker, the Holy Bible admonishes Christians to always pray for people in positions of authority, no matter the relevance of the office, stressing that it is only God that ordain leaders at any given time.
He urged the religious to continue to pray for the new direction policy of the current administration under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello which he noted have been well packaged to impact positively on the lives of the entire people of the state.
Rt. Hon. Kolawole who attributed his emergence as the Honourable Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly to God’s design and destiny which cannot be changed, called for prayers from the people of Kabba/Bunu in order for him to perform excellently in his nascent office.
He equally appealed to people of his constituency to support and rally round him so that he can continue to work in consonance with Governor Yahaya Bello in his quest at taking the state to the next level of development.
According to him, his election as the Speaker, which he noted was overwhelming and transparent, has broken the age-long jinx in Kogi State House of Assembly as since the inception of democratic rule in Nigeria this is the first time a politician from KabbaBunu constituency will produce a Speaker, stressing that the Local Government has never had it so good as it is currently experiencing.
He commended the governor for being objective by not meddling in the affairs of the state House of Assembly especially in the choice of the leadership of the House.
He expressed appreciation to God for protecting Pastor Ajigi during the mishap, noting that it was God’s divine intervention that made him (Ajigi) to survive the electrocution, urging Christians to continue to serve God fervently.
He tasked the people of Kabba community to continue to preach peace, love, unity which he noted are sine-qua-non to rapid development of the land, adding that before the demise of the late Obaro Oba Michael Olobayo, God has already ordained his successor.
According to him, there cannot be more than one Obaro of Kabba at a time. While suing for peace in Oweland, he urged the people to be ready to accept the verdict of God on the choice of a substantive Obaro of Kabba.
At the end of the program, the speaker donated a token sum to support the work of God going on in the church.
