Kogi Speaker Counsels New LG Chairmen to Be Prudent With Public Funds

The Kogi State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Momoh Jimoh Lawal, has advised the newly elected local government chairmen to be prude with the management of public fund. Lawal advised the council chairmen to shun embarking in execution of elephant projects that have no bearing on the lives of the people.

In a statement signed yesterday by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Felix Udebu, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Lokoja, the state capital, he called on the council chairmen to initiate activities that would promote peace and progress of their area of jurisdictions.

The Speaker, however, asked them to shun acts that capable of heating up the polity. Lawal also asked the chairmen and their councillors to key into the transformation agenda of Governor Idris Wada’s administration by initiating polices that would enhance the provision of the much needed good governance to the people.

He asked them not to betray the confidence repose on them by the voters, stressing that they must work hard not fail them. The Speaker also asked the council chairmen to operate open door policies and consult widely the stakeholders and their councillors so as to avoid unnecessary rifts.
