Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has assured the leadership of Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC) of its readiness to conduct free, fair and credible council elections.
Chairman of KOSIEC, Hon Mamman Eri gave the assurance when the commission played host to leaders of IPAC in Kogi state on Tuesday.
Eri explained that the commission’s earlier directive that all interested parties should visit the KOSIEC headquarters to submit names and designation of their executives has been hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic. He, however, assured them of further meeting after normalcy has returned to all business, political and economic activities in the state.
He assured that KOSIEC will carry every political parties along without prejudices.
The chairman of IPAC, Hon Iliyas Badanga assured the electoral commission of the advisory council’s unalloyed support.
He stated that IPAC visited the commission headquarters to get acquainted with the registration procedure for all the parties in the state and the arrangement in place for electoral materials for the council polls.
He frowned at the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister 74 political parties without recourse to due process and provisions of the law.
