Motorists and car owners in Kogi State have been told that they can not continue to live in the past where every available space has been turned into a motor park and car parking space.

Captain Idris Wada, the State Governor stated this at the Trade Fair complex along Lokoja – Okene highway, the proposed location for the first designed Motor Park in Lokoja.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, disclosed that Government is worried about the haphazard development on Lokoja – Abuja highway, lamented a situation where the highway has been turned into motor parks and market places.

He said Government has decided to turn the complex into a development spot to harness all traffic that flows across the State.

The Trade Fair Complex Governor Wada explained would now house the first proposed designed Motor Park in Lokoja, equipped with shops for the re-location of traders who sell on the roadside.

While describing development in the State capital as unplanned and worst off in the north Central States of Nigeria, said the time for a change of attitude by motorist is now.

Government, Wada disclosed, is committed to changing that toga of haphazard development and indiscriminate erection of Parks along highways in the state capital adding that the present administration has physical development as its focus.

The Governor then appealed to the citizens of the State to key into his dream of transformation which seeks to make Lokoja, one of the most planned cities and State capital in Nigeria.
