Executive Chairman, Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board, Dr Habiba Suleiman, has called on teachers to imbibe discipline and commitment, which is a core part of the teaching and learning process.
Dr. Habiba made the call when she paid an unannounced visit to Okene Secondary School, OSS ,Okene to evaluate the capacity of teachers and the learning of students.
The Chairman credited the staff and students for keeping an aesthetic environment.
Dr. Habiba described education as incomplete without good morals and discipline, which she said is the bedrock of quality education.
She described teachers as the soul of development and charged them to live up to the standards of the profession. She described teaching as a noble profession that everyone should be proud of because it is the hub for knowledge and the root of innovation.
According to her, “teachers must be the epitome of morals and discipline, if you are not disciplined it will be difficult for you to mould your students to be disciplined. We need to go back to the days when teachers were seen as the epitome of morals and discipline. We need to see the students as our children and do all we can to make sure they excel”, she said.

She encouraged teachers to also help their students imbibe proper hygiene, which is presently being relegated. She reminded the teachers that cleanliness is next to godliness and this must be at the forefront of teaching.
The Zonal Director Adavi-Okehi, Mr. Ajinamoh while speaking during the visit, also encouraged the teachers to exhibit high moral standards in the discharge of their duties so that students can easily emulate them.
The Principal of Okene Secondary School OSS Okene , Comrade Abduljelil Umar Adabara appreciated the Executive Chairman and her team for her leadership style and open door policy.
The Chairman and her team also visited Local Government Secondary School, Ohiana, AAAMCO, Lenon Memorial College, GDSS Ahache and few other schools in Kogi Central Senatorial District.
