A robbery suspect, Mr. Lawrence Urih recently escaped Police Custody when he was brought to the state high court, Lokoja for trial.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS), Kogi State Command, Mr Umar Abubakar revealed this to The Graphic in his office at the state headquarters in Lokoja.
Mr Abubakar noted that the accused who was standing trail for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery had on the 9th of may 2016, robbed Former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, lokoja Chapter, Barr. Williams Aliyu at gun point in his office in Lokoja.
The PRO has however stated that the NPS has put up a working machinery in motion to recapture the flaying suspect. Adding that the officer who the accused escaped from is currently undergoing interrogation.
Meanwhile, due to the synergy among security agencies in the state, 9 out 13 inmates that escaped from the Koton Karfe prisons on the 30th of July, 2016 have been recaptured.
Mr. Abubakar assured the general public that adequate pre-emptive security measures have been put in place to avoid such re-occurrence. He called on the general public with any information about suspicious movement of people around prison formations in the state to relay them as such informations will be treated as top secret.
