Kogi Poly Lecturer Stabbed to death in Students’ Riot

A lecturer, Mr Nathaniel Abimaje on Friday stabbed to death in a students’ riot at the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.

The deceased, Mr Naths as he is fondly called by students and colleagues met his unexpected death in process of resolving a students riot.

The elderly lecturer who is in his late sixties opted to avert the looming riot which escalated between Igala and Ebira on Friday evening at the campus premises in Lokoja.

Mr Naths who is reportedly hailed from Benue died in cold blood at about 11pm in the midst of the heated-students’ riot.

We gathered that the Polytechnic was shutdown on Saturday morning with students reported to have vacated the campus while ongoing examinations have been stopped till further notice.

Security agents has taken over the campus premises which is under lock.

Efforts to reach the Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Matthew Ajibero for reactions of the terrible development yielded no fruitful result as his mobile was unreachable.
