Kogi Police Deny Coercing Officers to Pay N10,000 for Anambra Governorship Election

The Kogi State Police Command has denied coercing its personnel to pay N10,000 as transport fare for Anambra governorship election.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Wednesday, the Police spokesman, DSP Willam Ovye Aya, said the report making rounds on social media is only the figment of the author’s imagination.

He said the police command is fully responsible for all officers going to Anambra on assignment.

“The attention of the Kogi State Police Command had been drawn to the report making the round on social media that the Command asked it’s personnel to pay the sun of N10,000 as transport fare to and fro for Anambra Governorship election.

“The Command wish to state unequivocally that, the report is not only the figment of the author’s imagination, but totally false, malicious and highly mischievous. The Command did not request for any amount of money as transport fare from Officers deployed for the assignment.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban psc (+), fdc while addressing the Officers deployed for the election stated that, the Police authority is responsible for the transportation of its personnel to and fro to Anambra State. The Command is surprised at the false and unfounded report on social media,” the statement read.

He urged the public to discountenance such mischievous information, and has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation to commence investigation into the alleged extortion.
