…assures family of thorough investigation

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga has paid a condolence visit to the family of Late Ibrahim Nbaba who was killed by an officer of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Isah Ibrahim at Ganaja Village on Tuesday.

The commissioner of police who regretted the unfortunate incident, assured the family of thorough investigation and prosecution of the police officers involved if found culpable.

He further went on to build the family confidence on his zero tolerance to human rights abuses.

The CP who made some commitments geared towards assuaging the pain the family is currently going through said; “Nobody has the control of his or her life except God. He gives and takes, so for the death of Ibrahim Nbaba, we thank God for taking him graciously.

“So, there is nothing certain as death and for this reason, we pray God to give him eternal rest and give his children and other members of the family the fortitude and courage to bear the irreparable loss.”

The friends of the deceased and other family members were on the ground to receive the CP at the Angwan Pawa Street, Lokoja, residence of late Nbaba.

The elder brother of the deceased, Alhaji Ayado Ibrahim, appreciated the CP for deeming it important to visit the family and spoke about the young man’s plan of opening a new shop at Ganaja village by the weekend.

 The deceased family Lawyer, Barrister Muhammed Inuwa, thanked the CP for taking out time in reaching out to the family of the deceased.

He further stated that for a very long time, no CP would leave his office to attend to such a matter, citing previous cases of extra judicial killings by the police in the state.

He assured the family that he would ensure that justice is truly done on the matter as his chamber will follow the process of investigation and outcome of same.

The lawyer lamented the unprofessional conducts of some police officers who think they can take laws into their hands thereby doing anything to undermine the rights of citizens and sued for total overhaul of the police in the command.

It will be recalled that the death late Nbaba sparked off a wide range of protest in Lokoja metropolis leading to the vandalization of SARS patrol van and the setting up of bonfires in major streets.
