The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has carpeted Governor Yahaya Bello over his decision to pioneer the implementation of the federal government’s proposed cattle colonies in the state.

PDP’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr Bode Ogunmola at a press conference  in Lokoja on Thursday, said it was worrisome that the governor took such decision unilaterally without consultations at a time when many states, including APC controlled ones had rejected the idea in view of heinous acts perpetrated by suspected herdsmen across the country  in recent times .

“The high security risks and long term implications are better imagined than experienced. We reject the evil scheme in totality and therefore demand its immediate reversal. Farming is the mainstay of our economy.

“We cannot submit out collective patrimony or donate our God-given land to herdsmen, who at best, are private businessmen. We say it loud and  clear that Cattle colony is a satanic policy and Kogi people reject it”, he said.

The PDP alleged that in the last two years of Governor Bello’s regime, the state “has been plagued with series of anti-people initiatives and policy somersaults”, with no tangible projects on ground to show.
