The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi State Chapter have protested the manhandling of Governor Ayo Fayose, of Ekiti State.

The PDP registered the party’s displeasure over the way Governor Fayose and the PDP Governorship Candidate, Prof. Olusola Eleka for July 14th election and the people of Ekiti State were treated at a rally.

In a press conference addressed by the state Deputy Chairman of the party, Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi, decried the incessant arrest, intimidation and oppression of Governor Fayose and other PDP political leaders in Ekiti, warning that it is dangerous to democracy.

“It is disheartening that a sitting Governor will be brutalized and humiliated while embarking on their peaceful campaign. Elections in Ekiti State must be free, fair and credible elections devoid of rigging”, he declared.

Chief Abenemi stated that the actions of the ruling APC and President Buhari was gradually drifting the country into dictatorship with no regard for the rule of law and fundamental human rights of her citizens.

The Kogi PDP described as shameful for the police to deploy 30,000 to Ekiti State and neglect other parts of the country been ravaged by the marauder fulani herdsmen.

The PDP queried the police authorities for not deploying at least 2,000 out of the 30,000 security agents to Plateau State where fulani herdsmen slaughtered over 200 persons.

While the PDP restates it readiness to occupy the seat of government in Kogi come 2019, it also promised to win clean and clear the forthcoming Lokoja-Koto federal constituency bye election.
