The Deputy Governor of Kogi state, Elder Simon Achuba has urged the National boundary commission to expedite action in resolving boundary issues between kogi state and other neighbouring States in the country.

Achuba who gave the charge when the officials of the National boundary commission paid advocacy visit to the state in Lokoja today, said resolving issues of boundary with the state will go a long way in bringing about peace and harmony between the state and other states that shared boundary with kogi state.

According to him, Nigeria is one and will remain one, adding that issues of boundary demarcation and definition cannot separate it.

He said that the economic value of a state like kogi bounded with 10 States is enormous, maintaining that such benefits could only be achieved under the atmosphere of peace and unity.

The deputy governor further enjoined the Commission to have a working time table on how the pending boundary issues would be resolved even as he advised that the Odeke in Ibaji local government area of kogi state boundary issue with Aguleri community in Anambra state be stepped down for now because of the inaccessibility to the disputed area at this period.

He advised that the communities be visited between December this year and January next year when the road to the disputed area will be better.

Speaking, the director general of National boundary commission Dr Muhammed Lawal, appealed to the state  to join hands with the commission in the  task of defining the boundaries of the state.

He urged the state boundary committee to be more functional and proactive in the assignment of solving boundary issues.
