Kogi NUJ Suspends Member, Veronica Okolo, Over Gross Misconduct

A member of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, Ms. Veronica Okolo, has been suspended indefinitely over gross misconduct.

Veronica’s suspension was ratified on Tuesday at an emergency SEC meeting of the Union at the NUJ Press Centre in Lokoja.

The meeting presided over by the State Chairman, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh, accused Veronica, who is of The Graphic Chapel, of back biting, character assassination, trespass into the matrimonial home of a member with the intent of causing disaffection between the couples and other anti union activities which amounts to gross misconduct.

The SEC- in- session considered her conduct therefore to be in violation of Article 7, 1a, c and d respectively of the Union’s constitution

SEC also directed that Ms Veronica Okolo during the pendency of this suspension is barred from all the activities of NUJ and NAWOJ.

Her case was, however, referred to the Ethics and Disciplinary committee of the Union to enable her defend herself in the spirit of fair hearing.
