Kogi NUJ Organises Media Parley For Governorship Aspirants

Ahead of November Kogi State Governorship Election, the Nigeria of Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council is to commence a Media Parley, aimed at interfacing with aspirants seeking to to serve the state as governor.

In a statement signed by Abdul Aji, Secretary of the NUJ media parley planning committee, the NUJ media parley programme seeks to bring all the governorship aspirants to the public domain where they can showcase their mission and plans for the state.

Aji noted that NUJ parley will enable the aspirants showcase their blueprints, plans and programs to the people if elected to Lugard House.

According to the statement, the media as the fourth Estate of the realm is empowered by the Constitution of the Federal Republic to hold political office holders accountable. It noted that the parley would enable the media  disseminate information that will enrich the electorate and the public in making informed decision.

The NUJ parley is designed to serve as a veritable platform that would help delegates and the electorates in making informed choices ahead the political party primaries, even as it will be an avenue for voter education.

According to the statement, Dr. Tim Nda Diche of the APC and Henry Anibe Agbonika will kick start the opening ceremony on Monday, 29 April, 2019 to be followed by plethora of other aspirants.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kogi State INEC, Professor James Apam, State Party Chairmen of APC, PDP, SDP and ADC will be special guests at the opening ceremony of the exercise.

The NUJ parley is powered by the NUJ, print media and many reputable online media houses in the state.

Meanwhile, interested aspirants or their representatives are requested to contact messrs Mike Abu or Abdul Ajih of the Nigeria Union of Journalists for further details regarding the media parley and their scheduled date of appearance.

Members of the public, various interest groups and professionals, supporters of governorship aspirants and party members are invited to be participants and observers at the parley.
