Kogi NMA Holds 2019 Annual Generally Meeting, Scientific Conference

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Kogi chapter on Sunday announced the date for its 2019 Annual Generally Meeting and Scientific Conference (AGM/SC) to commence on July 22 to 28, 2019.

Dr Kabiru Zubair, the state Chairman of the association, made the announcement in a statement on Sunday in Lokoja.

”As it has become a tradition in NMA, AGM/SC are held across the country by various state branches of the association immediately after the national Annual General Conference and Delegates Meeting.

”The NMA Kogi State Chapter will be holding her AGM/SC from July 22 to 28, 2019”, he said.

He said that a Novelty Football Match between Kogi NMA and Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) would be played on July 22, at Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.

According to Zubair, the novelty match between NMA and AMLSN is to foster a cordial working relationship between medical doctors and other healthcare workers in healthcare institutions in the state and Nigeria.

He added the association would be visiting Orphanages and some private hospitals in Lokoja on July 23, as a form of Corporate Social Responsibility to give back to the society.

”We shall also on Wednesday be visiting some retired and sick elders of the profession who has contributed immensely to the growth of the association.

”This is in line with the phrase in the new Physician’s Oath, which says; ‘I will attend to my own health, well-being, and abilities in order to provide care of the highest standard’,” he said

The chairman added that the opening ceremony and Scientific Conference would hold on July 25 at Idrinana Hotel Phase 2, Lokoja, with the theme: ”Kogi State Health Sector: Consolidating on the Gains and Reversing the Drain”.

He noted that the theme was carefully chosen to x-ray how far the health sector in the state has faired in the last few years, and what should be done to correct identified lapses.

”The sub themes were also carefully chosen to reflect contemporary local and national issues.

”The Jumat prayers will hold at the Central Mosque Lokoja on Friday, while the Thanksgiving Service holds on Sunday July 28, at RCCG city of grace Parish Phase 2 Lokongoma Lokoja,” Zubair said.

The chairman further said that the 2019 Annual General Meeting (AGM) would hold on July 27 at Hilltop Paradise Hotel, along Living Faith Church road phase 1, Lokongoma Ganaja junction Lokoja.
