When the idea was muted two years back by the government of Capt Idris Wada, the Kogi Mega Motor Park  project was received with a loud ovation as it was presumed that it would be second to none in modern motor park in Nigeria and capable of boosting the economic potentials of the state.

Located in one of the central states of Nigeria, Lokoja, Kogi State, the edifice with modern facilities that enhance employment generation is yet to be put to use.

The modern motor park is equipped with banking facility, restaurants, modern convenience which could take about 5000 vehicles at a stretch.

When LEADERSHIP Sunday visited the park commissioned by Wada shortly before he left office, it was observed that the edifice has been overtaken by weed. Some staff at the facility, who craved anonymity for fear of victimisation, told our correspondent that no official of the present administration had visited the park since assumption of office.

Alhaji Shehu, a pharmacist, lamented that the new administration had neglected the huge potential of the park, pointing out that if put to effective use, it had the capacity to generate considerable revenue for the state as passengers travelling from the North to the South would have a place to rest and vice versa.

“My honest advice is that all those things that are lacking should be put in place to hit the ground running.

“The motive behind the project was among others, job creation and aggressive revenue drive as alternative to over dependence.
