Kogi State House of Assembly has called on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to rehabilitate bad portions of federal roads across the state.

The call followed a motion sponsored by the member representing Adavi state constituency, Ibrahim Usman (a.k.a Okadigbo) on the need for FERMA to urgently fix Okene-Ogaminana-Nagazi-Itakpe federal highway to ease traffic movement.

He said due to the dilapidated state of the road, a journey of forty five minutes takes two hours.

The lawmaker said most worrisome was that the bad portions have become death traps for motorists and safe haven for hoodlums who carryout nefarious activities.

Seconding the motion, the member representing Ogori-Magongo state constituency, Moses Akande, said FERMA should be alive to its responsibility as federal roads across the state were begging for attention.

The Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole, who decried the terrible state of federal roads in Kogi state, directed the House committee on works to visit the FERMA office interface with it.

While commending the state government for the construction of the ongoing flyover project, called on the state ministry of works to look into the reconstruction of other township roads as well as the zone 8-crusher road.
