Kogi Is a Business Bride – Yomi Awoniyi

The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi has described the State as a business bride, not only attractive for its peace and tranquility but also secured for doing business.

He also added that the friendly business environment that has been created for investors to enjoy quick returns on their investment by the State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada should serve as a motivation that should attract investors .

The Deputy Governor made the remarks when he received the officials of the Nigerian Shippers Council, who were in the State to present a model design of a Transit Park.

Awoniyi, described Lokoja the State capital as a gateway State where the volume of traffic on a daily basis would make the place of a trailer park apt and necessary.

The Deputy Governor who commended the Councils initiative called for the updating of the design of the Park to meet the challenges of the high volume of traffic.

Awoniyi, called for a clearly defined role that will be played by the NSC in the  arrangement to build the Park,solicited for a clear cut business plan that will enable an understanding by both parties.

He assured the NSC of the hectares of land they requested for once the dynamics of the Truck Transit Park project is fine tuned.

While describing the State as a business bride, the State he noted is not only peaceful but secured for businesses adding that the State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, has created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Awoniyi, called on other well meaning investors seeking to do business to take the advantage of the peaceful nature of the State that is blessed with abundant solid and natural resources to come and invest in the State.

In his speech, Balarabe Sumaila, Director Projects of the Nigerian Shippers Council, said the Truck Transit Park to be built in the State will be among the first in seven locations in the country.

The Transit Park Project he added has already been advertised for interested bidders,said the NSC will serve as a facilitator and regulator, appealed for 50 hectares of land from the State Government.

The Truck Transit Park which Balarabe Sumaila disclosed is to be located at Banda close to the Jamata Bridge along Abuja Lokoja highway will house a Motel, Canteen, Hostels, Filling Station, Police Station, Warehouse and other modern facilities.

Balarabe Sumaila explained that the project which will ease congestion of the road and safety of drivers is part of statutory responsibility of the NSC to safety of cargo and persons.
