Kogi: Ijumu LG Boss Inaugurates 6 Rural Electrification Transformers

Mr Taofiq Isa, the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government in Kogi, has inaugurated six rural electrification transformers expected to serve six communities in the area.
Isa told newsmen at the Local Government Secretariat on Tuesday, that the inauguration ceremony was more of a handing over, saying the gesture was from the State Governor Yahaya Bello.
He said that the governor deemed it necessary to light up communities in Ijumu Local Government, adding that the governor approved ten transformers but only six has just been received.
He added that the project was in fulfillment of Gov. Bello’s promise to provide electricity that would ensure the opening of cottage industries across the state.
Isa, who doubled as the state ALGON Chairman, said that the projects would improve the living standard of the people, especially the rural dwellers and that the facility would be extended to more communities.
The Director of Local Government (DLG), Mr John Dare, thanked the administrator for facilitating the transformers to their Local Government Area.
He said the benefiting communities to include: Ayegunle Gbede, Iyara, Odokoro Gbede, Iyamoye, Ayeh gbede and Ogidi.
Chief Idris Aminu, who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers of the benefited communities, said Ijumu people wanted development and they are now seeing it.
He expressed satisfaction with Gov. Bello led administration and offered prayers for the administrator and the good people of Ijumu Local Government, saying it was truly dividends of democracy.
