Kogi House of Assembly Removes Chief Whip and Deputy

The Chief Whip of Kogi House of Assembly, Alhaji Suleiman Babadoko (Lokoja 1 Constituency) and his Deputy, Hajia Habibat Mohammed-Deen (Ankpa 1 Constituency), have been removed from office for leaking official secret to the executive.

The motion for their removal was then moved by the member representing Mopa-Amuro, Michael Folusho Daniel constituency and was seconded by Musa Idoko representing Idah constituency.

In a letter written and signed by 17 out of the 24 members of the House, which was read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Abdullahi Bello, the aggrieved lawmakers accused the two officers of unbridled and reckless character assassination of members and leaking the official secrets of the House with impunity.

In the statement read by the speaker, the members said: “The activities and conduct of the Chief Whip, Hon. Suleiman Babadoko of Lokoja 1 constituency and the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Habibat Mohammed-Deen of Ankpa 1 constituency in recent time calls for attention.

“The two officers have been working at cross-purposes and this has been affecting the overall goals and objectives of this Honourable House as well as our collective resolve.”

Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, representing Kogi Constituency was nominated to replace the chief whip and Damian Abdul Adejoh, representing Olamoboro constituency as deputy chief whip.
