The Kogi State Hajj Commission has set the 31st of March, 2019 as the deadline for the registration of intending pilgrims who desired to participate in the 2019 Hajj exercise, even as it commenced sensitisation campaign across the 21 local government areas of the state.
In a statement signed by the commission’s Public Relations Officer, Isah Abdulrahman, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, the commission stated that vacancies are still available for those willing to participate or sponsor candidates for this year’s holy pilgrimage to Makka, Saudi Arabia.
The commission also called on all intending pilgrims who have earlier deposited an amount with the commission to update their payment to N1.5 million naira only, not later than the first week of March, 2019.
The statement added that all those willing to make fresh payments for this year’s Hajj, effective from March, 2019, shall pay the sum of N1.5 million naira only, pending the announcement of the year Hajj fares by the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) for final payment.
It added that all registered pilgrims are requested to visit the commission for proper Documentation. The items required includes: an E-passport, National Identification Number (NIN), a certified medical fitness report, and a letter of Guarantor from a Senior civil servant of GL. 12 and above or District Head/Chief Imam of a Jumat Mosque, while female intending pilgrims are to come with a sworn affidavit deposed to by their Mahram.
The commission have also commenced sensitisation in the three senatorial districts of the state to enlightened intending pilgrims on their obligations.
The sensitization campaign according to the commission would be carried out in Jumat Mosques economic and commercial centres like, Zango markets, cashew outlets, farm centres, Fulani Hubs and market women.
Other places where the sensitization campaign are to be carried out by the commission includes people that own foundations, Local Government Areas and the media.
According to the commission, enlightenment programmes and Lectures would commence in due course.
