The United Progressive Congress (UPC) in Kogi State has collapsed its structure for Governor Yahaya Bello, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for his reelection bid to enable him consolidate on his previous achievements.

The State Chairman of the party (UPC) Hon. Moses Damisa  announced the defection on Friday at a press conference in Lokoja.

Damisa noted that the reason behind their actions was the similarities of APC and UPC parties’ developmental objectives.

He pointed out that the party’s executive members have been watching with keen interest the infrastructural development and the APC led administration in Kogi State’s zeal to do more in the state.

“Today, Kogi State is faced with a serious choice of a party to lead and manage its resources for the next four years, and it should be noted that UPC is actively in the contest but ill-equipped at this time to clinch the exalted seat of the governor of Kogi State.

“The party decided to align with a party that shares similar vision and objective enough to partner with,” he said.

Damisa said the party has decided to lend its full support to All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Governor Yahaya Bello in line with the provisions of the constitution because the APC is development inclined and that Governor Bello’s developmental strides cut across every sphere of the society.

He said the governor’s achievement in security, agriculture, health and youth empowerment in the last three years has given a strong conviction that he will do more if given another term.

He called on all members of United Peoples Congress in Kogi State to commence immidiate campaign for APC and Yahaya Bello with the slogan “UPC 4 APC”.
