Uhuami Clan of Nigeria has called on Kogi electorate to support Governor Yahaya Bello’s reelection aspiration to lead the state to what they called the promise land devoid of sentiment and money politics.
The president general of Uhuami clan, Hon. Salihu Ahmed, made the call at an event organized by the clan to endorse Gov. Bello for a second term in office.
Ahmed cautioned Kogites to be careful not to hand over the state to desperate politicians who spend billions of naira to secure nomination as gubernatorial candidate, saying “what do you expect if such a person is voted in to govern this state?”
He tasked Kogites, especially Uhuami clan, to select the best among the gubernatorial candidates who has the interest of the state at heart and not those who are desperate for power but lack the integrity to govern a state like Kogi.
He called on all Kogites to support Governor Bello’s administration in his drive to ensure infrastructural development in the state.
Hon. Abdullahi Sadiq, former House of Representative member for Adavi/Okehi federal constituency, in his reaction said: “States all over the nation, including Kaduna and Borno, are able to succeed because of their ability to put in place proper infrastructure, and it is on record that none of them was able to do this within four years.
“The good news for Kogi State is that Gov. Bello has started putting together proper infrastructure for the state.”
According to him, Kogi State had the largest number of abandoned projects before the coming of Gov. Bello, stressing that the current government has started completing those projects because of his belief that they are important to the overall development of the state.
Hon. Sadiq urged the entire Uhuami nation to remain calm on the perceived cheating over Adavi local government chairmanship position. He assured them that Uhuami is a big clan which can never be cheated anywhere in Nigeria.
Alh. Siyaka Oyibo, the executive chairman, Kogi State security trust fund while commending the government for the repair of Ebogogo/Paku road and Inoziomi/Eika road project, reminded Uhuami clan how the previous governments abandoned all these important road projects and wasted 16 billion dollars on power project.
He further praised Uhuami clan for their maturity, adding that what is rightfully theirs will surely come for them.
He said that the social intervention programmes of the government are not popular because they are targeted at the poor and not the rich.
Also speaking at the event, Engr. Suleiman Jatto, member elder’s council, said every sensible Anuhuami with the interest of Uhuami at heart know that Gov. Bello’s second term is the only guarantee for Uhuami rightful place in Adavi.
He pledged that Anuhuami would give the governor an overwhelming support because he is the only governor that is genuinely addressing the marginalisation amongst clans in Ebira land.
He challenged other political parties to an open debate regarding the provision of infrastructure for Adavi people, saying: “they should come out and tell us what they have been able to do for the people of Adavi over the years despite our support and we will show them what Governor Bello has been able to do for the Adavi local government in just three and a half years despite not getting the entire Adavi votes in 2015.”
