The Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria (GDPN) in Kogi state has called on eligible voters in the state to reject the two major parties, APC and PDP, urging them to support and vote for a more reliable alternative party, GDPN, so as to permanently avoid the era of failed promises, corruption and abject poverty in the land.
The governorship candidate of GDPN, Dele Bello-Williams told journalists in Lokoja, on Thursday, that a surprise defeat is awaiting both PDP and APC in the upcoming November 16 gubernatorial election in Kogi state.
“Candidates of the main parties have taken our people for granted for 20 years, it is now time for the people to show them the red card,” he said.
Narrating his experience while campaigning around the state, Dele Bello-Williams noted that “after my trips around Kogi state, it is very sad to discover that the present administration received 30 billion Naira on July 22, 2019, for managing the state but up till today the roads in Kogi remain a death trap as every part of the state roads is still full of deep pits and potholes.”
Mr. Bello-Williams noted further that the abysmal performances of APC and PDP has given the state a bad name all over the world. He said that Kogites should not forget the long-time suffering and hardships they’ve gone through, urging them to massively vote for GDPN.
“Governor Yahaya Bello and his administration have run out of ideas, the government is confused and will never achieve anything new if re-elected. For the past four years, the APC Administration has denied workers of their rights to basic salaries and entitlements. Civil servants, pensioners, teachers and local government workers are going through serious hardships. 80% of our state income comes from the federal allocation. By not paying salaries on time to civil servants, the government has destroyed the livelihoods of everybody in the state. If civil servants are not paid on the pretext of looking for ‘ghosts’, market women, business owners, transport workers and many families will also be affected.
“Kogites must now look beyond party politics and vote for a candidate with a track record of successes, grassroots oriented and has the plights of the masses at heart,” he stressed.
Mr. Bello-Williams stated that the voter intimidation strategy being pursued by both APC and PDP through their incessant violent feuds, shows clearly that the people of Kogi must stand up and resist them by coming out en masse to vote GDPN into Lugard House on Saturday 16th November.
