Mr Ben Owoleke, the engineer in charge of Obangogo Tourist Centre, Kabba on Thursday called on Kogi Government to give more attention to the development of Obangogo Hill in order to attract quality tourists.

Owoleke told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja that if properly harnessed, the hill would become tourists’ destination.

According to him, if the hill is developed, it will boost the state’s revenue generation capacity.

He recalled that the hill was resuscitated about three years ago, after it was abandoned for over 40 years.

Owoleke noted that the hill’s potential was brought to the fore in 1970 by the traditional ruler of the area, who named it Obangogo Hill.

He advised residents of the state to visit the site as “it is a place to behold.’’

Owoleke stressed that there were many exciting historical features on the hill and called on the state government and other tourist investors to explore the site.

He noted that the site was fully resuscitated since 2011, and that Dec. 26 every year has been set aside to celebrate and enjoy the wonders on the hill top.

Owoleke said that this year’s event would feature the Atupa music group and many local delicacies like popolo and akara ekan.
