Kogi state government has announced that plans are in advance stages to establish an University in Okun land.
Commissioner of Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, made this known during a consultative visit of the governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Usman Ododo, to the palace of Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, on Monday.
Fanwo noted that necessary paper work for the establishment of the University is being worked upon.
According to him, establishment of University has being the burden in the mind of Okun people, hence the move by the present administration of Governor Yahaya Bello to make this come to past.
The Commissioner, who did not disclose the name of the University, said all professors of Okun extractions will soon be mobilized to the National University Commission (NUC) headquarters for the signing of relevant documents.
He assured the traditional leaders that the University is a brain child of the Governor to recognize education as the biggest industry of Okun people.
