That shelter is one of the key needs for human existence is not in contention. It is against this background that the administration of Captain Idris Wada in Kogi State is exploring avenues to meet the housing needs of the people of the state.

Besides embarking on the construction of houses for its citizens, especially civil servants, the administration has entered into partnership with private consortia to meet the housing needs of the state.

It is in the light of this, that it entered into partnership with Admiralty Homes UK Ltd and West Word Homes and Estates Ltd to build 250 housing units in Crusher, along the Lokoja-Abuja Highway.

In an exclusive chat with The Graphic, the Chief Executive Officer of West Word Homes and Estates Limited, Prince Alfred Olusegun said the state government would provide land and develop the infrastructures within the estate.

He explained that the government has almost fully fulfilled its own side of the bargain, saying that by its action, the state government has shown that it was totally committed to the early take-off of the project.

According to him, even the speed with which the government attended to the proposal of the consortium clearly indicated its readiness to support any programme that would impact on the lives of the citizens of the state.

To facilitate people’s capacity to access the project, Olusegun explained that the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN)was being involved to provide the National Housing Fund for all intending buyers, who, however, would be required to pay 10 percent of the total cost of the houses of their choice.

The houses which are in categories range from N2.8 million to N6.5 million and according to Olusegun, facilities such as water, dedicated 500KVA/33KVA transformer, creche/nursery school and good sewage management and disposal system among others, would be provided in the estate.

The prices and quality of the project, he disclosed, are being regulated by the FMBN and therefore, ruled out the possibility of shoddy execution.

All the units of houses if completely vied for are to be delivered within six months with keys handed over to beneficiaries.
